Now-a-days there are so many different websites that offer beneficial and unique learning capabilities for children. I was recently introduced to a super handy, easy-to-use site called Epic! The site offers a wide variety of e-books and audio-books. It is extremely easy to set up an account and...it's FREE! When you sign up you can automatically link your Google account, which makes the set up process quick and simple. Students can also set up their own accounts! Oh I forgot to mention how kid friendly this site is! The layout of the site is easy to follow and all of the books are categorized. Below I listed a few of my favorite features of this website!
-When you click the preferences button in the upper right-hand corner, you can narrow your results by selecting a particular age group.
-You can also choose the format of the books that you are wanting to read. For example you can choose to only search for chapter books, early readers, etc.
-Lastly, in the preferences section you can select several categories that interest you.
Reading
-When you click on a book it tells you the recommended age group and the estimated reading time.
-After finishing a book the website provides you with various recommendations of similar stories you may like.
Documentation
-When you click on your name in the upper right-hand corner you can choose to view your profile.
-The site keeps track of how many book you have read, the amount of pages flipped and hours read. It also gives you reading points.
-Also in the upper right-hand corner when you click on your name you can choose to view your reading log.
-Your reading log shows all of the books you have finished or are in the process of reading. It tells you how many pages you have flipped and how long it has taken you to read the book.
Like I previously mentioned, there is so much that I LOVE about this site and I'm discovering more cool features every time I visit it. Now please...go ahead and check it out for yourself!
