Like I previously mentioned, students should be doing 70 percent of the talking throughout the day! Provide students with various opportunities to contribute their thoughts, engage in hand-on activities, set goals, apply concepts that they have learned to real life situations, read and write about the material being taught and reflect on their learning through writing or discussion. "Active learning works because it involves the active construction of knowledge by the learner."
Facts About Active Learning:
- Students are fully engaged in the learning process
- Involves talking, listening, reading, writing, and reflecting
- Students are more likely to learn with others, than they are in isolation
